About
Our Story
Established in 1972 by founder David Tongue during the 1970s energy crisis, HT Engineering initially specialized in engineering consulting to address the expanding energy network. Our strategic positioning enabled us to actively contribute by engineering and implementing solutions for escalating energy demand in the Midwest region.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s we worked on a growing assortment of pipeline projects for clients ranging from utilities to local governments to industrial and manufacturing facilities, and products ranging from crude and natural gas to carbon dioxide, oxygen, and nitrogen, and supported oil and gas exploration and production across diverse geologic horizons
Since 2001, our team has been building capability and capacity in the integrity management of welded steel pipelines. We are currently involved in every aspect of the integrity management process, from threat identification to assessment management, repair plan development to dig, inspection, and repair management, and data integration to risk assessment. In addition to in-line inspections and hydrostatic tests, we manage integrity programs for water crossings, depth of cover, theft, above ground storage tanks, and corrosion.
At the same time, we have built extensive experience in the engineering, design, and management of business development- and risk-driven projects. New pipelines and facilities, station piping modifications, pump, meter, and strainer replacements, launchers and receivers, pipeline nitrogen displacements, replacing and bringing valves above grade, emergency flow restricting device installations, and HDD pipe replacements are what we work on every day.
We’ve built our team around the beliefs that character matters as much as skills and knowledge, that a healthy balance includes both youthful energy and tech savvy and the wisdom and experience that come with age, and that our success is directly tied to earning our clients’ trust, sustaining good relationships, and providing value. Management Systems
Quality Management System – HT Engineering manages the quality of our services and deliverables using our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System. We provide services to our customers that satisfy applicable requirements, continually improve our quality management system, and work to consistently exceed our customers’ expectations of service and performance.
Safety Management System – HT Engineering manages safety using our Safety Management System. We firmly believe that we are responsible to work safely and to ensure and improve the safety of the infrastructure that we help our clients design and manage. HT Engineering maintains and follows policies, procedures, and programs that meet our client’s requirements for high risk work, and we maintain client approvals through multiple third-party compliance verification platforms.
